“A Hero or a Villain……..Nayak Or Khalnayak!!”

The person who I am going to introduce to you today is our own young vibrant CM “Mr. Omar Abdullah”. How do you look at him ….As a “Hero or a Villain!!…..As a “Nayak or Khalnayak!!”Lot of his actions resemble our bollywood hero Anil Kapoor…. “NAYAK-Ek Din Ka CM”.But remembers this CM has to carry on for 6 years.

Let’s first have a look at what exactly he has done so far and the Brighter or Darker side of his efforts. To set the tone right, let’s talk about his surprise visits first.

  • His surprise visit to “Lal Ded Hospital”. The premier maternity care hospital, Lal Ded is witnessing swift improvements after the chief minister Omar Abdullah’s surprise inspection. Now will this improvement drive continue or you just call it “Naya Josh”. How does a common man feel about it and how does the new CM himself feel about it.
  • Next surprise visit was in Jammu. Continuing with his surprise visits of various offices and important institutions, the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah visited Grid Station, Gladni, SMGS Hospital and Police Station, Gandhinagar.Immediate suspension orders were rolled on spot. Now the only thing that boggles our mind is “Who all were suspended and did the orders get an official stamp?”Will he ever enquire about the same or he will just move on?

The new CM promises of solving the “Unemployement Menace” and resolving long standing “Kashmir Issue”. Now keeping our fingers crossed, do we believe him or we continue with our age old ideology of saying “His father did nothing, he will do nothing”. Is this the time to appreciate his efforts or suspect him? The new CM has asked the administration to formulate a schedule for the first 100 days of the government to set tone for good governance. He directed the PDD officials to e-mail him on every Monday the status of repairs and restoration. At times we feel so pleased about all this but at times we think “Isn’t it happening too quick and in a cosmic way?”

The new CM “Omar Abdullah “said that as he is the youngest ever chief minister of the state, people are looking at the government with high expectations and lot of hopes. Now the problem with this concept of youngsters as decision makers is that so far it is a musing and a fairy-tale. We often hear it “The Future Belongs To The Youth!!” How many young leaders and decision makers have you seen in history of India till now (leaving apart IT industries)? We all know the answer. It is simple because young people are hardly or as they say it “Once In A Blue Moon” taken seriously. People always neglect a softer, “greener” side to this generation drive. So what is CM Omar Abdullah’s fate and the fate of J&K.?

How many of you like me believe in this saying………………..

“Small Opportunities Are Often The Beginning Of Great Enterprises!!”

Who We Are, What Do We Want??

It’s always nerve-racking to come to a state where the motto is, Hum Kya Chahatey (What Do We Want)??. It’s all the more threatening because of the word that emphasises “We Dare……..Yes We Do”!! But deep down inside I’m always worried I might step over some invisible line and go back home with a bloody nose or maybe won’t go back at all.

We all plan and set goals – for a day, a month, a year – but we ought to set goals for a hundred years.”What do we want things to look like in 100 years? What do we want our families, our worship places, our nation, and our generations- to look like in 100 years? What we do today – or don’t do – will decide that. If we do nothing, we know exactly what it will look like.

Every one of us does see a problem. Every one of us knows that we must do something about it- but what? Before we can ask, “What do we want?”We have to know who “we” are. That’s not so easy to answer – We have an ocean of people with diverse personalities??

** We are not conservatives. What have we ever conserved in our lifetime? Not a blessed entity. Not one principle. Not a single tradition. Not one right. Not a piece of property. Not even one life.

**We are not libertarians. We recognize that there is more to freedom than simply the freedom to do whatever you want as long as it hurts nobody else.

**We are not fundamentalists as we don’t even try to achieve the primary goals.

**We are no rebels as we don’t go against established governments.

**We are not callous as we feed those who try to starve us.

**We are not constitutionalists. Not only has the constitution failed at the state level, but it has also failed at the individual level.

We reject both revolution and oppression, both selfishness and socialism.Who are we then, and what do we deem?

We are not a movement,

We are not an ideology,

We are not a constitution,

We are not a faction,

We are a PEOPLE.

People, created by the divine concern of God.

WHAT DO WE WANT

Any man who goes out to change society’s status quo has to do a lot of home work. No matter how bad things are – how corrupt, how tyrannical, how immoral and degraded – they can always get worse or better ….The difference lies in the perception and insight. So what do we WANT  ?????

DRUG ABUSE !!

While I was sitting in my cozy room watching TV, I saw some clip of today’s youth Icon “John Abraham” with a cigarette blowing fumes like the smoke coming out of a Chimney. There were a lot more related events which occurred that day. The idea to write about this whole thing took birth there and then.

The risk that Teens will smoke, drink, get drunk and use illegal drugs increases sharply if they are highly stressed, frequently bored, have substantial amounts of spending money or watch their role models doing so. Teens who have elder brothers or sisters who smoke and drink are more likely to use illegal drugs, because siblings are a more powerful role model than any one else. Adolescents are more vulnerable than any other age group to developing nicotine, alcohol and other drug addictions because the regions of the brain that govern impulse and motivation are not yet fully formed(Biologically Proved). It takes less time for an Adult to recover than a Teen. Teens that have friends who drink are more likely to drink themselves and this influence may be especially strong for girls. It has unfortunately become a status symbol these days. At teenage stage youth gets easily trapped in anything that thrills them and makes them feel a little better than others.

Experimentation with drugs during adolescence is common. Adolescence is a time for trying new things. Unfortunately, teenagers often don’t see the link between their Actions Today and the Consequences Tomorrow. Teens use drugs for many reasons, including Curiosity, because it Feels Good, to Reduce Stress, to feel Grown up, to Catch up with the trend or to Fit In. The main reason behind excessive usage of illegal drugs is depression. Causes of depression can be any of these…………………

Grief due to death, Loss of a relationship, Loss of hopes and dreams, Inability to connect with others or a Traumatic event. Teenage girls are at especially high risk, as are minority youth. Heavy drinking and Illegal drug consumption can make the brain less able to learn important life skills.

Depressed youth often have problems at home.  In many cases, the parents are depressed, as depression tends to run in families.

Frequent Sadness, Social Isolation, Poor Communication, Low Self Esteem and guilt, Extreme Sensitivity to Rejection or Failure, Difficulty with Relationships. All these factors act as the “Drug Drivers” driving our nation builders (our youth) into darkness.

Many people do not understand why individuals become addicted to drugs or how drugs change the brain to foster compulsive drug abuse. They consider it as a social threat alone. What people often underestimate is the complexity of drug addiction—that it is a dangerous disease that impacts the brain and because of that, stopping drug abuse is not simply a matter of willpower, it needs a lot more effort than that.

” EveryThing Is Messed Up Here !!! “

Misery,Trouble,Discontent,Grievance, Accusing.Blame…… and the list goes on.These are the words that we have associated with our lives here.Who is Responsible ?????
Though there is a lot to discuss about,Let me try to gel few things together and provide you with a sincere Picture from my point of view.Things we come across everyday.
I go to fruit or vegetable seller to pick some stuff.A nice warm welcome from his side.I smile and pick a fruit from his cart,Bang ….Fire in his eyes and his fist tight enough to blow my jaw off.I am still trying to figure out what wrong did I do.
A person driving his car,I come from behind and start blowing the horn “Loud and Proud”.I know there is one more vehicle in front of him but that doesn’t matter I want him to make way for me.He tries his best but can’t do it,anyways I can overtake him from Left and give him a piece of mind too.
Early morning I wake up as I am irritated by some sound.I feel as if some one is hitting a nail in my head.I look out of the window and to my surprise its my next door neighbour hitting hard at the fence of our beautiful park.Seems he needs some Iron Stuff for his home.
I see a doctor rushing towards Emergency Ward to see some patient.I follow him and add to the crowd of people(his relatives)waiting for him(patient)to arrive.Doctor gathers courage and say “Can you please go out,One person is enough to attend the patient”.Next moment he finds himself kissing the floor of the ward. The man standing next to him saying”You doctors don’t care for a person even if he dies in front of you”.You are telling us (his blood relation ppl)to go out.Remember doctor has not seen the patient yet.
We are getting late for the office and request the driver of the local bus to atleast make a move.He turns around, looks in to your eyes and you guess the rest. After some time you make one more courages attempt and say “Now the Bus is full I think we can move ahead”.He looks into the side mirror to check if there is someone Hanging outside the bus.As he finds none,he turns towards you and says “Why don’t you hire an Auto Rikshaw or get youself a Taxi”.All you can do is wait for another 10-15 minutes.
I am stopped by a Traffic cop and asked for the Vehicle Enclosures.Well I don’t think its necessary to carry them everytime. And what if I don’t have few of them.Ruthless cop he fined me for that. The one who was on this circle before always negotiated. Now I feel he was much better than this new one,I was wrong before.
Electricity is necessary for every house hold even for me.But I don’t want to pay for consuming it.I haven’t done it since last 18 years.Well I ll make my own ways of getting it in a better way.Hooking is what I am going to do.Line man of our sector is good enough to ignore my activities.Only the new JE can be a trouble. If at all he forces us to get Electricity Meters installed
We ll check out with the good buddy line man if we can make the meter work our own way.I don’t think its necessary that even I should use electricity in a Genuine way as others in our sector do it.I don’t agree with our State Govt on many things. What have they done for me till now.
One who is honest we want to Corrupt him,One who is corrupt We abuse him. What we get we don’t want to pay for that and what we don’t get we crib for that. When we break rules its ok,when others do it they lack sense. There is lot more to the miseries of our own deeds.
Keeping all the Politics and Human Grudges apart.Does the above incidents reflect a picture of us being “Responsible And Civilized Citizens” ?????????

” A Tale Of Two Cities : “

No Charles Dickens people,This one comes direct out of a common mans Grey Matter.A thought that boggles every other Kashmiri. Why is Jammu better developed than Kashmir when it was opposite 20 years back. Are they just Lucky or is it something else?
We have a great heritage and culture still we lag behind. We have more man power and talent still we lag behind. We have more resources still we lag behind. Two different faces of the same coin.
Lets have a look at something very interesting. How many flyovers do we have here in Srinagar City.Yeah I know we have one in HSH Street(Hell I messed it up,thats actually an overhead bridge). If you know more ,do let me know.Ok lets go to our winter capital Jammu,Now thats what we call a flyover.Do I need to mention the Location for this one ??
Fine lets talk about roads. How many two ways and Well mettled roads do we have here in Srinagar. Here we score a lot…..Secretariat Road,Boulevard Road,MA Road,Air PortRoad and yes Gupkar road.So many we have.Do you expect me to talk about interior of the City…….Excuse me Govt is working on all that too,for now they are busy counting Pot holes.
How many houses have been constructed for people whose families have been butchered and property blown up.But yes govt has taken care of our migrant brothers and sisters, atleast they have full security flats and a job.
All private MNC’s are either Establishing their Head Offices in Jammu or after reaping benefits from here they are moving to Jammu. The reason might be security, butlast time i heard some politicians saying everything in normal in kashmir, may be it was regarding the number of killings only.
Newspapers are full of bad news and illegal activities when it comes to kashmir.I never see any such columns for Jammu.May be Center Govt is more interested in improving the condition of Kashmiris. We should be thankful in that case.
Yes one thing we will always have with us is the Natures Beauty,Now don’t expect someone to malignant that also.Come on everything is not in the hands of a Human being. If it was how much more do you think could be added to this story ??????

Reminds me of a great saying “Taqdeer Bananey Waley Tuney Kami Na Ki, Aab Kisko Kya Mila Muqadar Ki Baat Hai” !!

Look For Some Govt Job Now?? (A Common/Sorrowful Scene in Kashmir)!!

Confused about the title, don’t be because today I am going to say something that every youth wants to say “LOUD AND PROUD”…….I work for a prestigious MNC(but OOP’S its Private Ltd) .

Wow….That marks card looks real good, We all are proud of you. First reaction after you come out with flying colors in your Profession(Degree Done).I ll prove my Metal and get myself a good respectful Job, Your reaction with that towering %age marks card in your hand.

Next ….Struggle Struggle and More Struggle. Finally you get a job and mind you in a MNC, Well the package sounds good. This is where tears start rolling out of joy. Now I can be a proud son of my proud parents. Thanks to almighty Allah. You reach home with full Enthusiasm and Joy. Your parents welcome you with all their good wishes and love.

Sometime Later, There is this Govt Job why don’t you apply for it? Yes but its not what I have learned all my Life (You are talking about your profession) and on top of that I am already working at a Higher Rank, But its a private sector (You are next to Unemployed). This is where you start Sweating and Shivers running down your Spine. Life takes a U-Turn ,You loose track of your Present and You are not sure of your Future.

Mashallah your son is so Well Mannered,Organised and Good Looking, Try to get him into some job. There will be a queue outside your house for his marriage proposals.Ya but he is doing a job(He is working as a Software Engineer/Sales manager/Hr…..list goes on).No no I mean Govt Job(His present job  is just like that  and for his own expenses). But he earns more than 20k.Ok did he apply for that Govt Job,Do you have any contacts(CM,MLA…bla bla).He doesn’t give a Heed to what your Parents are saying.Your parents keep on defending you and you status but Alas they too go with the society. For your parents happiness you decide to sacrifice(but wait aren’t you going against your wish and principles).

You are left Alone to Fight the Ideology of a common man who can’t see/doesn’t want to see anything beyond that wall. Will you Standup and prove your Guts or Is it that you are going to Fall for others happiness.

” Some People Walk In The Rain…..Others Just Get Wet !! “

I am learning, ever so slowly, how important it is just to keep your Head up and Live each day as a Blessing. Our view of the universe is mostly colored by our Belief – or Disbelief. What some call Luck, others see as melding of events inspired by a creator. If we have been sent to this world there is surely a Role for us to play. What Role we are going to play is again guided by Our Belief- or Disbelief.

Living in reality requires stepping outside the containers we are given.None of us were born to live in fear or to make others live in fear. We were born to make the world a better place,a little more Kind and Caring.God has given us the Canvas,All we need to do is fill In the Colours.Life is a journey through doorways that, more often do not indicate what is on the other side,And that creates tension. But should we stop exploring ,Are we sure that there is nothing good on the other side of it.

Why are we running a Rat Race ? Half the world is starving while the other half seems to be desperately trying to lose weight.Rich is scared of loosing what he has and Poor has nothing to loose. If we believe in Heaven and Hell, then what is the confusion all about ?????

“Political Correctness Is Tyranny With Manners.”

Ref:-Oxford
Politics: Activities concerned with seeking power.
Politics: Public Life and Affairs.
Politics: Art and Science of Government.

Out of the three above I am sure most of you would agree with the first one. What makes me think so its nothing but “I think the way you think” and this is what exactly it means in present Era.Do we even get a glimpse of so called art and science of government,No because “Art looks good on walls and Science is only for Research”…This is what today’s politician thinks.Actually he/she is correct in saying so because the Level of Knowledge and Education he/she has,the definition falls within that.

“Slander,Forgery and Hipocracy” makes politics complete. This is a norm and doesn’t surprise anybody rather you try to give it a new dimension buy including terms like “Fair,Ethics and Public”,it surprises everybody.

If change is must then why not in case of “Polictics”.Is it fear of loosing Power and Grip or is it just Not Required. There is an old saying “Need is the Mother of Invention”,then why no inventions in case of politics.Or is it that there is no need for a change ??

I remember some years back we had a nice Bollywood flick “NAYAK”.Did impress me a lot but then I thought…..Would he [One day CM in that Movie(Character Played by Anil Kapoor)] stay the same once he is in command permanently.Well I was not quite sure but that 1 day show did gave me an outline of what the world would look like if politicians start following the same path.Nothing magical,Nothing Supernatural he did still he achieved what he was supposed to.But How often do we see such acts taking shape in Real Life. What is it that stops people being sincere and loyal ??

We often hear it/say it “One Man Alone can’t do Anything”.Are we being practical is saying so ???

” Today’s Youth Has To Do It(We have to do it/A Kashmiri Has to Do it? )”

To my agony I was caught in a discussion which I always tried to avoid not because I couldn’t do much about it,I actually knew I could do something about it which others wont like.
Things started rolling with the punch line “Kashmiri’s don’t want to progress as they lack sense” and guess what the one who told this belongs to todays youth(Born and Bought Up here). But now working abroad.Second blow came out of no where straight on my face.”You people have to change things you are today’s Youth”.For a moment I was in a state of Tremor.I was wondering If I was in conversation with someone from 50’s(A non Kashmiri) But I regained my senses and realised that it was him ,a youth from kashmir who loves to crib about my misery and helpless condition(only because he is no more here and I am).

So many questions were shot at me “The System here is corrupt? The roads are pathetic? There is no Self Respect?Power Supply is short?People don’t want to change?Culture is Messed up?…So on So forth  !!! To all his questions I had one simple answer “What good did you do about all this?”…Its not about You and Me its about We.We have the Potential and Intelligence, but we lack Resources(But we can create them). For a moment he was in a fix and his face pale.

When people compare us with other states why do they forget the “20 + years of Havoc” we have gone through. When they compare us with other countries they forget that its Just 50 odd years back INDIA started developing as a nation.Do you expect kashmir to grow “Leaps and Bounds” when the country itself is still developing.
Being proud of nations you don’t belong to is Foolish.People aren’t going to ask you about “What you have in Dubai,Uk,Us or Australia,They are going to ask you What do you have in Kashmir(The place you are born in….Your Home).Go places ,go nations, go countries, remember one thing you will still be called a Kashmiri. If you can’t do anything good for your motherland atleast try not to Insult it.If a Kashmiri is no more in kashmir He/She still can keep it alive and Honoured anywhere/in anypart of world……..Bring Loyals to your Nation being here or somewhere else because your own people need it.
